The Instance Explorer report provides usage and performance data on all of your instances and virtual machines. Using the various filters and available fields, mission-critical information and details can be obtained on each machine.
Use Instance Explorer report to:
- Calculate estimated cost per machine
- Create a full list including aggregated running hours of all machines that were active during a time range
- Create a list by provider or account
- View machines created or terminated during a time range
- View all currently stopped machines
- Obtain visibility of the tagging of each machine
- Track untagged instances
- Use Azure Resource Explorer to see additional cloud resources
Instance Explorer Overview
Instance Explorer report is used to view various metrics for assets of your virtual machines. You can drill into specific instances to obtain information such as instance running intervals, life cycle in the selected period, CPU utilization, network input and output traffic and active disks.
The Instance Explorer report collects all running intervals within the defined date range and aggregates data accordingly. To view each of the running intervals during the date range, expand the instance. The cost of each instance is calculated for the date range selected based on AWS and Azure list prices (no discounts are applied). Additional fields can be added to the report using Show/Hide Fields.
Select a Date Range.
Select Tags to include in the report.
|Show||Select the instance status to display (For example Currently active, Stopped, etc)|
|Provider||The cloud provider to which the assets and expenses are associated.|
Select the service.
The account or subscription name.
Region the resource is hosted.
|Availability Zone||AWS isolated locations within a region.|
|Instance Type||Select the instance type.|
|Platform||The operating system.|
|State||Select State if you want to see all machine that were active in the date range; but are currently stopped or terminated, Select Show to select Instances Running within date range and for State you select stopped or terminated.|
Show/Hide Fields - Located at the top of the report results. Use Show/Hide options to either add additional fields to the report or to remove fields from your view.
|Show/Hide Fields||Options include: Service, Provider, Account Name, Account Number, InstanceID, Name, Running Hours, Available Hours, % Usage, Instance Price Per Hour, Instance On-Demand Cost, Region, Availability Zone, Instance Type, Platform, State, First Available, Last Available, First Launched, Last Timestamp, Number of Disks, Disk Size, Magnetic Disk Size, gp2 Disk Size, io1 Disk Size, Provisioned IOPS, EBS Optimized, Root Device, Root Device Type, Detailed, Monitoring, Image ID, Image Name, Architecture, VPC
|Show/Hide Tags||Select the tags to include in or hide from the results.
Groups and Filters
|Service||Select the services to include in the report. Use the Search bar at the top of the list to quickly find services by name.|
|Parent Account||Select the parent account to include in the report. Use the Search bar at the top of the list to quickly find the parent account by name.|
The account or subscription name.Select the account name to include in the report. Use the Search bar at the top of the list to quickly find account name.
Region the resource is hosted.Select the region to include in the report. Use the Search bar at the top of the list to quickly find region by name.
The type of resource in use.
Select the resource to include in the report. Use the Search bar at the top of the list to quickly find the resource by name.
|Sub Type||Select the sub-type(s) you want to include in the report. Options include: Basic, Free, Free Web Sites, Hours, In, Linux/Unix, Out|
